Churu – The Sweetest Second Chance 🧡
At 10 years old, Churu’s life has already been a long and difficult journey. After a lifetime of fending for himself as an outdoor cat, he was given away for free on Facebook with severely progressed, untreated cancer in his ear. By the time he reached help, the disease had advanced so far that two veterinary clinics recommended euthanasia.
But Churu had other plans.
A third veterinarian believed he deserved a chance, and thanks to that decision, Churu underwent major surgery to completely remove his ear, including the canal to stop the spread of the cancer. It was a big procedure for a gentle older boy, but Churu faced it with quiet bravery.
Today, he’s recovering beautifully and discovering something he’s never truly known before… the comfort of indoor life and the kindness of people who care.
And what a sweetheart he is.
Churu is an incredibly gentle, affectionate soul who absolutely adores human company. He leans into head scratches with pure contentment and would happily spend his days curled beside you, soaking up affection. He’s a very quiet boy who rarely makes a sound, but his soft presence fills a room in the loveliest way.
He’s also completely obsessed with Churu treats — the tube probably won’t come out fast enough to keep up with his enthusiasm!
While he enjoys affection, Churu also has a thoughtful, observant nature. He likes to watch the world from a safe distance first, quietly taking everything in before deciding it’s time to join you for cuddles.
Churu must be a strictly indoor cat, and his future family will need to be committed to ongoing vet checks and monitoring for any possible cancer recurrence. Right now, he requires no medication and is simply enjoying being comfortable, safe, and cared for.
What Churu truly needs now is something he’s likely never had before — a calm, gentle home where he can finally feel safe and learn what it means to be deeply loved.
After everything he has endured, we believe the very best chapter of Churu’s life is still waiting for him.
Could that chapter be with you? 🧡
Consider why you would be the ‘purrfect’ fit for this pet’s forever home. Below are some tips for considering and preparing your application…
The regulations for pet ownership differ between councils, this includes the requirement for registration, curfews for cats, and on/off leash walking for dogs. These are often easily found on each council website.
if you are renting, it’s vital that you consult with your landlord and secure their permission before applying for adoption.
Are you looking for a pet that is full of energy and playful? Or would you prefer a pet that is content to hang with you around the house all day, and nap on your lap while you watch TV or read a book?
It’s also important to consider the personality and temperament of any existing pets. How will they respond to a new addition to the family, and how will you manage the integration?
Cats and Dogs can live up to 20 years. This is 20 years of feeding, vet care, council registration, toys, training, etc. Does this fit with your budget and finances? How would you manage unexpected medical expenses if your animal was to become ill?
Would you have the time and calm environment needed to nurture a shy, or fearful pet and help build back their confidence and zest for life? Or, would you prefer a pet that is outgoing or independent and that would slot perfectly into a busy home? It’s also important to consider the personality and temperament of any existing pets. How will they respond to a new addition to the family, and how will you manage the integration?
