All our animals spend time in foster care before being adopted. During this time the carer gets to know the animal’s temperament, personality, and energy levels. They also observe how each animal interacts with adults, children, and other pets, and if they would thrive best in an indoor only or indoor/outdoor home.
It might often feel like a case of love at first sight, but we recommend you read each animals profile carefully and consider how their needs and personality might fit with your family or lifestyle.
Animals available for adoption are listed, with their profiles, on the OAAT facebook page and OAAT website. Every application will be considered, and those most suitable will be contacted for a short phone chat, followed by a meet and greet, and then a home check. We want to be sure it’s not just a match – but the perfect match!
Adoption fees help cover the costs of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming the animals in our care. This includes:
Adoption fees will vary depending on the animals vet care, age of the pet, the time they have been in care, and any special needs.
A non-refundable holding deposit of $50 will be required for a pet if …
If this applies the deposit will be requested by the rescue, and once paid, we will put a “hold” on that pet and remove it from our website as being available for adoption.
If the adopter changes their mind – the deposit is not refundable.
A deposit helps cover the costs of the pet while they are in our care, and helps offset risk by ensuring that only genuine adopters are selected. It also covers the costs associated with relisting the pet for adoption on our website and facebook page.
If the rescue changes their mind – the deposit is refundable
If the rescue decides at anytime prior to collection that the animals needs have changed, their health or behaviour have changed, or that you might not be the best fit for this pet, then the deposit will be refunded by bank transfer.
