Pet rescue work asks something rare of the people who do it: to walk toward suffering, again and again, when most people are able to look away. Every day brings animals who arrived through neglect, abandonment, or cruelty — thin, frightened, sometimes past the point of physical recovery.
The reality can be confronting and the outcome isn’t always the one we want. Some animals don’t make it, and those losses stay with us. Others go on to be adopted, living amazing lives where they are loved, treasured and continue to thrive. What keeps us going is knowing our intervention will change the balance of suffering in the world.

Recently, one of our volunteers was contacted about a tiny kitten struggling on a footpath. She rushed to help but what she found was far worse than anyone expected. There was an abandoned house, with over 30 cats and kittens living on the street. All were in terrible condition — suffering from flu, ringworm, fleas, worms, and severe malnutrition.
