Finding The Perfect Pet

Morgan & Andy

Hi! I’m Morgan and me an’ my brother Andy need a family of our own!!

We started off as real scaredy cats (embarrassing now, but we were little and we didn’t know hoomans could be kind) but we are so much more confident now.
My foster mum says I’m a “shouty boy” but she only says that when I’m telling her to hurry up with our dinner. It’s not my fault she’s slow!
So, I gotta tell you about my brother Andy. He’s definitely more shy than me. He will talk to the hoomans, but he doesn’t really want them to touch him much, unless he goes to them. Andy likes to find a quiet space and make it his own. He definitely doesn’t like to be picked up yet, but I don’t like that much either. I’m working on becoming a lap cat. I like the comfort and the warm, but that’s weird, ‘cause trusting hoomans is really hard!
We are looking for a very special home. We need a family for both of us, because Andy, even though he’s silly sometimes, and a sissy, he’s my brother. I love him and he loves me. We gotta do life together.
We need to have a home with routine, and calm. We love our outdoor enclosure, so that would be a super bonus, but we really need to be indoor only kitties. We are in care with other cats and largish dogs at the moment, so a blended fur family should work. We definitely are not suited to little hoomans and even the grown ups will need to be understanding and respectful of our boundaries and make us feel safe.
If you think you can offer me and Andy a together forever home can you please let my foster mum know by filling out the application. Thanks and loud meows.

Tips for Finding the Perfect Match

Cats and Dogs can live up to 20 years, so it’s really important that you select a pet that is going to fit with your personality, household dynamics, and future plans.

Lifestyle Compatability

Are you looking for a pet that is full of energy and playful? Or would you prefer a pet that is content to hang with you around the house all day, and nap on your lap while you watch TV or read a book?

Would you have the time and calm environment needed to nurture a shy, or fearful pet and help build back their confidence and zest for life? Or, would you prefer a pet that is outgoing or independent and that would slot perfectly into a busy home? It’s also important to consider the personality and temperament of any existing pets. How will they respond to a new addition to the family, and how will you manage the integration?

Housing and Council Regulations

The regulations for pet ownership differ between councils, this includes the requirement for registration, curfews for cats, and on/off leash walking for dogs. These are often easily found on each council website.

if you are renting, it’s vital that you consult with your landlord and secure their permission before applying for adoption.

Costs associated with owning a pet

All OAAT pets are vaccinated, desexed and microchipped prior to adoption.   They will also be up to date with all worming and flea treatments.  This is all covered in the adoption fees (which generally range from $200 – $900 depending on the type and age of the animal).

Cats and Dogs can live up to 20 years.  This is 20 years of feeding, vet care, council registration, toys, training, etc.  Does this fit with your budget and finances? How would you manage unexpected medical expenses if your animal was to become ill?
